Case Writing Workshop

What? The case writing workshop provides a venue for beginning or intermediate level debaters to get a good grasp on the topic and write at least one case on the topic. My workshop typically last one day - but since each student works at his or her own pace, students will be able to write either one or two cases. The casewriting workshop includes the following:

- Research on the relevant topic
- Two casewriting lectures
- Two “beginning philosophy” lectures (Locke, Hobbes, Rousseau, Rawls, Mill, etc)
- Topic brainstorming session
- Guided writing

When? Whenever. I need enough notice to prepare research on the topic, and to find a mutually agreeable time.

Where? I live in North Richland Hills, Texas (just north of Fort Worth); however, I am willing to travel reasonable distances if my travel expenses are paid.

How Much? I generally only charge a nominal fee plus what it costs me in copy charges. In most cases, I won’t ask for more than $50. To explain why see the “Author” section of this website. I belive that debate is important for young people and offers an invaluable character and intelect building opportunity. I also know from personal experience that breaking into the debate world can be difficult when experienced teachers are in short supply.

How Many? I am willing to work with 4-10 students per seminar.
